1. Who we are

Epoch (“Epoch,” the “App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a mobile dating application operated by Volveth LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use Epoch. It applies to the App and to epoch.date.

2. Eligibility (18+ only)

Epoch is intended solely for people who are at least 18 years old. You must be 18 or older to create an account or use the App. We do not knowingly collect information from, or provide the App to, anyone under 18. See Section 12.

3.2 Information collected automatically

CategoryExamples

3.3 Information from third parties

We receive your subscription and purchase status from RevenueCat and the Google Play billing system when you buy a subscription or in-app item, so we can unlock the features you paid for. We do not receive your full payment-card details.

4. How we use your information

5. Photo moderation & child-safety scanning

To keep Epoch safe, photos uploaded to the App may be automatically scanned using Google Cloud Vision and related tooling to detect nudity, explicit content, and other policy violations. We have a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and for any sexual content involving minors. Where required by law, we report apparent child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or relevant authorities, and we may preserve related information for those purposes. You can report other users or content from within the App.

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information as follows:

7. Advertising

Free-tier users see advertisements served through Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device’s advertising identifier and related data to show and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted. You can limit ad personalization through your device settings (e.g., “Reset advertising ID” / “Opt out of Ads Personalization” on Android) and at Google Ad Settings. Purchasing our ad-free subscription removes ads within the App.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the App. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain information to comply with legal obligations (for example, records related to safety reports or child-safety obligations), resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

9. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards provided by Google Cloud/Firebase, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your privacy rights

You can review and update your profile in the App, and you can delete your account and associated data from within the App’s settings at any time. See how to delete your account and data (including how to request deletion without the app).

California (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know, access, correct, and delete your personal information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and of certain targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money; certain advertising activity (Section 7) may be considered “sharing” under California law, and you can opt out via your device ad settings or by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

EEA / UK (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Our legal bases include performance of our contract with you (providing the App), your consent (e.g., location and personalized ads), our legitimate interests (safety and improvement), and compliance with legal obligations. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any right, contact us at privacy@epoch.date. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

11. International data transfers

We and our providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for cross-border transfers.

12. Children

Epoch is strictly for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will terminate the account and delete the information. If you believe a minor is using Epoch, contact us immediately at privacy@epoch.date.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by other reasonable means.
